OPINION
Ingonyama Trust THE King of the Zulu nation has alleged that the Office of the Premier in Kwazulunatal has rendered him almost a puppet while calling him “king”. King Misuzulu made these allegations this week in Ulundi during his closed meeting with the Amakhosi (chiefs) regarding the Ingonyama Trust. He said the King’s Office located in the Office of the Premier manages the monarch’s diary and movements and has rendered him powerless. He said even his late father, King Goodwill Zwelithini, used to complain about the King’s Office and the restrictions it imposed on him. King Misuzulu told the traditional leaders that this was the beginning of a campaign to weaken the structure of traditional leadership. “It is difficult to be a king and live on handouts,” the king lamented and asked that all royal affairs be moved to the Ingonyama Trust. |
