Leaders discuss Iran
PARIS: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron yesterday, hoping to gain support against Iran’s nuclear programme.
Israel’s Paris embassy said the pair were discussing “the international effort to stop the Iranian nuclear programme”. France agrees that “firmness” is needed in dealings with Iran”. Tehran also holds several foreign nationals as hostages.
But Macron’s office said he would reiterate the need for all sides to avoid measures that fed the cycle of violence between Israelis and Palestinians, while offering solidarity with Israel over terrorism. |
