Tshwane cop robbed after her vehicle is ‘spiked’

A TSHWANE Metro Police Department member has been robbed of her firearm after her vehicle was spiked on Thursday night.

Department spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the officer was on her way home after working the night shift.

She got a tyre puncture as she was driving and approaching Rethabiseng along the R513 Road.

She then stopped the vehicle and went to check the damage.

As she was checking the damage, she was approached by two men who robbed her of her firearm, took all her belongings from the vehicle and left.

The officer was not physically harmed during the ordeal.

“We condemn such criminality on our members. We have been working very hard to combat these spiking incidents, and are continuously monitoring all known and potential hot spots.

“It is unfortunate that one of our members fell victim to such criminality. We appeal to members of the public who might have any information regarding this new trend of criminality to assist us by anonymously providing any information that may aid in arresting these criminals,” Mahamba said.

Meanwhile, officers based in Centurion were driving along Nana Sita Street near Home Affairs when they received a complaint from members of the public about a Zimbabwean male who was illegally authorising documents outside the department’s offices. The officers apprehended the suspect and he was searched.

They found him with a Department

of Home Affairs stamp and forged documents. He showed them where he printed his documents.

They went to the premises that he described as his office. Inside the office the officers found two Department of Home Affairs stamps, forged asylum documents, passports for different countries, temporary South African documents and forged payslip documents. They also found a Dell laptop and two Canon printers.

The 35-year-old male was arrested and will appear in court soon. | IOL
